God loves you just the way you are.
Through the ages, Jesus has revealed himself in many every day, broken people. Take Job, David, or Joseph. Heck, consider Jesus’ own twelve disciples, or even his own mother. By most honest accounts, these people were not considered pillars of society. In fact, they each were in their own way a HOT MESS. Throughout history, again and again God has used some of the most underwhelming, ordinary, and even some of the most damaged folks to perform some of the greatest of miracles.
Here’s the deal: God has never been the one who has led us to believe that we are broken, and more so that in our imperfections, undeserving of God’s love. The world is guilty of fulfilling this ill-guided prophecy.
It is the mission of HOT MESS to challenge this ill-conceived notion of who God is or who and how God chooses to love each of us. Just like so many before us, we are all are worthy – no matter how little or how big our mess – of so much more than what the world has led us to believe.
God loves each of us in such a way that God looks past our personal predicaments and chaos, and doesn’t choose focus on the mess that all of us in one way or another have become. In reality, God is the ONLY one who truly sees us still for the beautiful being He always intended each of us to be.
More than anyone, God wants so much more for each of us, all of us, than to simply survive the messes that may at one time or another entangle our lives. God wants us all to thrive. In this moment, just as we are, working towards becoming the people God always wanted us to be.
